Howdy, fellow agents! This is Agent Stormhawk, reporting from an undisclosable location in the United States. After the ISA's official Idea Comer-Upper suggested this wonderful idea, I've been collecting misspelled words, funny quotes, and crazy conversations. Armed with my trusty blue bucket, no mistake can hide from me! Except for the ones that I miss, of course, but those aren't included here... unless they happen to be overlooked. (Or, you know, quotedđ). We'll start with something from my lovely brother: âDonât quote me on that. Donât quote my quote of my quoting myself!â Now, without further ado, the contents of my bucket.
Tipping the Bucket:
Frozed:
It all began with an ice rink at the KDWC (King's Daughters' Writing Camp)...
Chipmunk wanted to go skating, but "that would not be a good idea," according to her.
Agent Red Robin agreed. "Yeah, I don't think the Aunties would recommend that. We'll get frozed."
"Frozed," Chipmunk repeated
"Yup!" Red Robin gave her best shot at an innocent face. A moment later, an anonymous camper popped in. "Frozed. Sounds like new ice cream-like treat." She then proceed to mix up ice cream, a block of ice, and a frosty. It was a huge hit.
After all, it was already freezing there at the ice rink. Who wouldn't want to get frozed eating frozed?
Dangerious:
This word also hails from the KDWC. A camper that shall remain unnamed due to her zip-lipped status commented that throwing snowballs at the ice rink sounded "'dangerious."
According to Agent Fairy Tern, "I love your new word, P.D. It sounds like danger that has the potential to be injurious."
Broked:
The origins of this are a bit cloudy. However, it seems to have been brought into existence by the one and only Agent Red Robin, after she allegedly got "broked" under a large rock.
Luckily, it was only virtual. We hope.
What Spills Out Next:
I asked around for words & the funny stories that go with them. Here are a few responses:
Madi: "My sister pronounced Lionel âLion Ellâ and when I was little gn and ng vexed me to no end, so I pronounced signature âSigh-nay-toor.â
Forest Fern: âMammy instead of mummy cause he couldnât say it.â
Olivia G.: "My 3yo has already kinda gotten out of it but his fave animals are âtrocodilesâ and âaggigators.â He also used to say âuh oh daises.â We all love playing âdom-ee-oesâ (dominoes).
"My 6 yo says âfasi-pie-erâ instead of âpacifier.' ...Then hat in the cat instead of the other way around. And things can be âa-scustingâ (disgusting) a fair amount. Rebekah M.: "My most amusing typo (that I can remember) is having âcloset neighborsâ instead of âclosest neighbors.â
And my youngest nephew was going around offering free âcandy-cansâ the other night."
Z.K.: "For the longest [while] I called my shoulders my soldiers, and visa-versa. It was terribly
confusing to my young brain."
The Crumbs:
These wonderful laugh-inducers were caught red-handed.
On ice skating:
Joy: Admires Autumnâs beutiful skating
Me: Catches Joyâs misspelling and puts it in my bucket
Lilly: I think Iâm getting the hand of this!
Me: Whoâs hand? đś
Lilly: Autocorrect is not helping me today!
Me: đ And... I think itâs supposed to be âwhose.â
A little brother's never-forgettable mistake.... "Hey, Bro?" Nathan asked, looking around at all the lawn mowers that his older brother, Agent Barn Swallow, was fixing up. "How many mawn lowers do we have?"
And just like that, my bucket has been emptied.
Almost.
In conclusion, here's something from my dear brothers:
âI have a colt. Itâs called Deadlock. I control Deadlock. In fact, Iâm the leader of Deadlock.â Dan grinned evilly.
âOkay, that part I donât quite believe,â Thomas said. âYouâre faster, stronger, and smarter than a horse.â
âIt's true.â
Well, did you laugh? Or at least smile?
Do you have any funny word-related stories? I'd love to hear them! After all, my bucket still has plenty of room. ;)
Did you purposefully say P.D.'s name after saying she had a "zip-lipped status?" XD So funny! I think I can guess the real names of these agents, too... *evil grin*
